The Introduction
Carrie LeitzmanHi! I'm Carrie Leitzman, and I have enjoyed needlework for over forty years. Thankfully, when a teenager, our neighbor had the time and patience to teach me how to needlepoint. Thank you, Stevie Keith, for starting me on my needlepoint path—I am forever grateful!
Over the years, I have enjoyed taking classes from esteemed teachers like Laura Taylor, Tony Minieri, Susan Portra, Connie Camp, and Carolyn Hedge Baird. Each instructor has provided a wealth of knowledge on decorative stitches and threads, shaping my stitching personality into what would fondly be called "needleart."
Then, along came Julie Pischke Designs and a fabulous trip to Key West. Meeting Julie in person was a delight and a turning point in my needlework journey. Julie's insights on color, design, and the "why" of stitching were enlightening. The idea of stitching in hand, using both basketweave and continental techniques, with different threads to create my own personal pieces, was truly empowering.
In May of 2023, my husband Jason and I were blessed to purchase Julie Pischke Designs. What began as a showroom for Julie's creations has evolved into the realization of our dream: opening our very own needlepoint store, located just minutes off I-75 on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
Three Palms Needlework is a place where old Florida classic charm meets modern coastal designs. When you walk in the door, expect to be greeted warmly and made to feel as though you are already a part of our community. It is a space to explore our curated collection of canvases, threads, and accessories, and join us in celebrating the art of needlework.
Now, we are making the time to take the years of knowledge and share it with other stitchers. Whether you stitch in hand, use stretcher bars, basketweave, continental, do decorative stitchers; needlepoint should be something you truly enjoy. Follow along as we share tidbits of knowledge accumulated through the years in the hopes that you too, will Enjoy Every Stitch™.
